Awkward and Awesomes!

Jun 30, 2011

When the girls and I get together there never seems to be a lack of awkward incidences that happen.  This past weekend was no exception.

Awkward:

  • Walking through the grocery store and the stock boy telling Maggie that she looked like a Russian Mail Order Bride.
  • Reggie Miller being at Maggie's birthday party.  Only in Indiana.
  • Trying to get Floyd's nails cut.  I'm pretty sure the people at PetSmart want to die every time we walk in.
  • I have a super awkwardly awesome picture of the Mister's hair doing this crazy curl thing but it won't load onto my computer for some reason :(
  • They are coming out with 3D cell phones?! Can someone tell me why that is necessary?
  • Trying to make a creative and edible dinner out of leftover appetizers.
Awesome:
  • Regatta this weekend! You gotta Regatta!
  • 2 bestie filled weekends in a row.
  • My new Tervis Tumbler with a straw!  I love my Tervies!!
  • Sales rep's that bring us treats.  You can get far with cupcakes, cheesecake, and a showroom full of girls.
How's your week been?

Stuffed Shells

Jun 28, 2011

Here's a super easy, quick and yummy meal I whipped up last night! I have seen this recipe on This Week for Dinner multiple times and I was very excited to try it!  After a weekend of eating out (even though all of our meals were delicious) I was really craving a home cooked meal.  This one really hit the spot!

Here is the link to her recipe...I made mine exactly like hers, so no need to rehash the recipe.  And if you haven't checked out Jane's site you are missing out! She has many delicious recipes but more importantly, her meal plans are fantastic. I've talked about her site here

Have you tried any new recipes lately?

Weekend Wrapup: Girls Weekend in Indy!

Jun 27, 2011

I pretty much have the best friends. Ever. And this weekend was no exception.  We all rocked each others socks off once again.  There was a lot of chatting and even more giggling.  And eating, of course.  It's one of our favorite things to do.

Friday I had the pleasure of meeting my girl Maria downtown at 'It's Just Crepes'.  (She was visiting from Indy...we flip flopped hometowns).  I had heard really good reviews of this place but hadn't been there yet.  It did not disappoint.  Sorry I don't have a picture of our crepes.  They were too yummy and we didn't pause for a photo op with them.

Friday night I headed to Indy and met up with the girls.  We had dinner at Mesh.  It was delish.  I had a phenomenal short rib sandwich, very yummy fries with ranch (duh). The rest of the night was spent chatting and catching up.

Saturday I was able to visit with my lovely friends, The Dawson's and then headed to the pool with the ladies.  We rounded out the afternoon with some shopping.  That night we celebrated Maggie's birthday with a huge group of friends and had a great time!!

We seem to all have the same taste.  Good thing we live in different cities!

How was your weekend? What did you do?

Fridays with Floyd: P to the B

Jun 24, 2011

As I've said before, Floyd does not get a lot of people food.  He does, however, get peanut butter.  And when he gets peanut butter it is hands down the best part of his day.

Check out that tongue action.  Have you ever seen one with such reach?!

(P.S. please excuse my mangy, un-brushed hair)

Goodies in the Mail

Jun 23, 2011

Ever since I won that AMAZING giveaway from Cassie @ Hi Sugarplum, I have been anxiously awaiting my treats to arrive in the mail.  I am happy to say that they have all arrived and I am in love!

Besides, who doesn't like getting packages in the mail?? Actually, I love any type of mail.  I get mad at the Mister if he goes out and gets the mail before me.  I'm not sure what my obsession is...maybe it's because my mom always let me get the mail when I was a kid and it felt like a SUPER important job.  Whatever the reason, I LOVE mail!

Here is a run down the items I got:
1.  2 pillow casings from DIY Pillows
1 for the sofa
and 1 for our bed

2. These be-au-ti-fullll earrings from Haute Hardware. I'm seriously obsessed.

3. These adorable note cards from Pixel Impress.  I've already sent a few of these out!

4. And finally, a photo print from Poster Brain.  I decided to go with one of the Mister and I on our wedding day.  I love, love, love this print and I can not wait to hang it up! I think I will do what Cassie did and adhere it to a canvas.  I haven't quite decided where to hang it yet but I will be sure to let you know when I do.

And one more note about Poster Brain...these people are great to work with and hysterical to boot! The emails and follow up emails I received from there were so funny!   I highly recommend their services and they send you a Werther's candy with every purchase!  Who doesn't love candy?

Awkward and Awesomes!

It's that time of the week again!!

Awkward:

  • Thinking you see someone you know at Wal-Mart but you're not sure because you haven't seen them in yearsss so you do the awkward 'look back'/oh I was just looking around/trying to figure out if you are who I think you are.  I never determined if it was who I think it was and it is still driving me nuts.
  • How all week I have a mental list of awkwards running through my mind and when it comes time to sit down and write them I can NEVER think of them.
  • Craft fails
  • My hands right now.  They are peeling from taking a medicine and it is the sickest thing I have ever seen.  I feel like a leper.  Is it appropriate to wear gloves in the summer?
  • Scheduling Floyd's vet appointment for 8am...who made that genius decision?
Awesome:
  • Winning this
  • My mama is getting better and better every day! Yay new knee!!
  • This weekend. There are plans for it be stellar.
  • And next weekend for that matter.  The Madison Regatta is upon us.
  • A warm puppy sleepy on my leg
How's your week been?

Craft Fail...and Success

Jun 22, 2011

I have seen these adorable bib necklaces all across blogland and in stores.  Recently, Little Miss Momma made a very cute one with buttons...see, it's cute. Her directions are very straight forward so I won't bore you with the wordy details.  Here are some photos of how mine went.

However, for some reason, I decided to forgo her directions and wing it.  Well, let's just say that didn't go well.  I wasn't happy and the Mister told me it looked like I was wearing a medallion.  Not exactly the look I was going for.  Sooo, I did this...

This is where not following the directions gets you, kids.

After I had a mini meltdown I decide it might be best to draw a template.

Then things began to look up.

I like it!

What do you think? Have you had any craft fails or success lately?

Well, well, well

Jun 21, 2011

Much to my surprise, I was recently award the Stylish Blogger Award from the ever lovely sisters at Everyday Easy! Thanks SO much ladies, I am so honored!!

The rules for this award are as follows:
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pay it forward!

7 facts about me:

1. I LOVE all of the Real Housewives series.  I know it's awful and probably makes me dumber but they just suck me in.  The drama, the clothes, the hair...I love it all.

2. I have a seriously hard time eating foods with strange textures.  You will never see me sit down with a bowl of cottage cheese.  Ew. Yuck.

3. This is probably obvious, but....I am completely obsessed with diet coke.  My favorite part of the morning is opening an ice cold diet coke...it is like crack to me.  And don't even get my started on fountain dc's or Sonic vanilla dc's.

4. The Mister can attest to this one: I am terrible at doing nothing.  VERY rarely will you find me just sitting on the couch watching t.v. (even if it's Real Housewives). I always have to be blog stalking, crafting, couponing or something.

5. I LOVE surprises.  Especially solider surprises.  There was a solider surprise proposal this morning on the Today Show...it about did me in.

6. Organizing is probably one of my top 3 favorite things to do.  Lists are my best friends.

7. The Mister and I have been together for 11 1/2 years but only married for 1.  We started dating when I was a freshman in high school and he was a senior. Scandalous!! Ha!

And now I would like to pass this award on to Tess at Tea Time with Tess!

I found Tess' blog through some late night blog hopping and it has quickly become one of my daily reads! Tess had at her love for Tory Burch and wine.  Check out her blog for her great work outfits and fun happenings in Chicago!

Fridays with Floyd: Going Shopping

Jun 17, 2011

The Mister and I always talk about how life would be more enjoyable and easier if we could take Floyd everywhere with us.  I'm sure the people at Target would love him and I know he would be a hit at Best Buy.  However, my places do not agree with us.

But...Bass Pro Shop does!!

Last weekend we loaded everyone into the car and headed to Bass Pro.  It was mine and Floyd's first trip to the store.  He loved it and seemed to be exhausted by the whole 'shopping experience'.

We have been talking about taking him to the lake with us this summer when we go visit the Beckers.  Even though he is learning to swim in his new pool, we know the lake is a whole different ballgame for this short legged, dense boned boy.

Soooo...just to be on the safe side, he needs a life jacket.

I think yellow could be his color, don't you?

Awkward and Awesomes!

Jun 16, 2011

Awkward:

  • I was walking Sophie (my mom's dog) and this man drove by v e r y slowly and stopped.  He said hello to me, 'can you catch her?' I replied, 'oh, she won't run.' thinking he thought she would run in front of his car.  He said, 'no, that's our neighbor's dog, can you pick her up?' 'No, sir, this is MY dog.'  Strange looks ensued.  He definitely didn't believe me.
  • Still can't find this dress anywhere.  #drivngmeinsane
  • Try to search for clothes on target.com...does anyone else think it is not well organized??
  • My mani/pedi taking almost 2 hours and not being very good. Burghh.

Awesome:
  • Getting surprise packages in the mail! Thanks Aunt Denise!!
  • Relaxing evening walks with the Mister and Floyd
  • Mister and I's date night plans for this weekend
  • Finding a stash of craft project materials at my mom's house
  • Trying on my high school prom dresses...and THEY FIT! (It's the little successes in life that matter, ha!)
  • Taking Floyd to Bass Pro Shop with us...so funny to see him in a store.  And the man that told us he looked like a greyhound bus!
  • Mini bags of chips from Chipotle. So adorable and prevents me from eating the wholllle big bag by myself. (not that that has ever happened though...)

On the Hunt

Jun 14, 2011

When we were in Florida I spotted this dress and I can't stop thinking about it.  I saw it on this girl but wasn't able to ask her where it was from.  Fail.

Since we returned I have been scouring the interwebs for it...to no avail.  Double fail.  I have tried lulus, UO, ModCloth, Shopkempt, ASOS and about a million other sites.  If you have any other suggestions, please let me know!

I'm not sure why I am so obsessed with finding this dress but now it is a personal mission of mine.
I'll do my best to describe it to you so you can keep your eyes open as well.

It was color blocked...the top was beige and the skirt portion was orange (orange = love). The waist was a wide black elastic band.  And the back was the best part.  The elastic continued around to the back and there were 2 other bands of elastic.  I know that sounds weird but trust me, it was adorable!

Here are a few photos of ones I have found that similar but not anywhere near the original.

Help me, Rhonda!

Fridays with Floyd

Jun 10, 2011

I have been toying with the idea of having a weekly Floyd feature for a while now.  And because alterations are just too fun, please welcome Fridays with Floyd!  I can't promise he will show up every Friday but I will try! He is such a silly little man and makes the Mister and I laugh so much I just thought we should be sharing more of him!

The Mister and I were joking that I could create a whole blog solely on his different sleeping positions. My all time favorite is when he sleeps like a human. Hilarious.

Here are a few:

Please notice is under the blanket and has his head on the pillows.
Also, disregard that fake smile on my face.
This picture quality isn't the greatest but it is too funny not to share.
Confession: we were both passed out here.

Happy Friday from Floyd! Let me know if there is anything particular you want to know from or about Floyd!

Resolutions

Jun 9, 2011

Now that we are a few weeks into June I thought it was time to check in on our New Year's Resolution list.

The Mister and I complied a list at the beginning of 2011 and placed it on our fridge for a daily reminder of what we were working towards.  By January, we felt we had lived in our house long enough to determine what projects/areas we wanted to tackle in the upcoming year.  Other than house projects, we also included fitness, health and organization goals.

If you know me, you know I love a good list.  And even more than a making a list, I love crossing things off a list.
We have successfully accomplished about a 1/3 of our list.  Some of the items on the list may never get fully crossed off but are things we are constantly working towards.  If we counted those items I would say we are closer to 1/2 way done.  These items include: budgeting, eating healthy, traveling to see friends, etc.  All in all, I have to say I think we have done pretty well!

Sarah at Everyday Easy recently wrote about her to-do list(s) and how she has a 'need' to do and a 'want' to do list.  I love this is a fantastic idea! I think next year we will separate our list like this and also be working toward our 'wants'.

There are definitely things that we have thought of after we made the list and have been trying to tackle those as well.  It may be a never ending process but I love it and it's fun to tackle these items with the Mister.

Did you make a resolution(s)? How are coming along?
