Today is the last installment of 'The Ultimate Wedding Week'.
I have loved seeing everyone's photos and reliving our wedding as well.

The details of our wedding are one thing that made the day so special for me.
From my something borrowed (my mom's pearls), to my bright pink shoes, to our kid attendants that mean the world to us- it was a day full of fantastic memories.

Here are a few of my favorite details of the day
 Thanks for reminiscing with us!

Two Years Ago Today...

Mar 27, 2012

Two years ago today I married my best friend.
I can not believe that wonderful day was 2 years ago...
the are days when it seems as though it was was just yesterday
and days when it seems as though it was 12 years ago.
Regardless, I love being married and am so happy to be celebrating our anniversary!

Our plan today is to grill some steaks, drink some wine and exchange gifts.
 sounds perfect to me :)

 Happy Anniversary, Mister!
I love you so very much and my love for you grows every day
I can't wait to see where the next 82 (at least) years take us

Weekend Wrap Up: Anniversary Celebrations

Mar 26, 2012

Is it me or do the weekends seems to be getting shorter?
Even though it wasn't long enough, the Mister and I had a great weekend celebrating our anniversary.
We plan to continue celebrating with steaks
and presents
and wine
on Tuesday.
I finally solved the cotton dilemma, you will have to come back to see the solution.

However for the weekend portion of our anniversary celebration, we headed to downtown Cincy.
We first stopped at Lackman and grabbed a beer with some friends.
We then headed to A Tavola for some amazing pizza and sliders.
Both were amazing.
Fig and prosciutto pizza = my new favorite thing.
Salty + sweet on a pizza= dreams.

How was your weekend?

The Ultimate Wedding Week: Before the Ceremony

Mar 23, 2012

Next week is our 2 year anniversary
(say what?!)
Where has the time gone??

I have been wanting to share some wedding pictures and The 'Ultimate Wedding Week' link party is the perfect opportunity!

Today's installment is: Before the Ceremony

Here are some of the photos from before our big day!
It was a BEAUTIFUL day
(My bff's parents were sweet enough to keep Floyd over the wedding weekend.
They brought him by the salon while we were getting our hair done so I could see him
)

And there you have it!

Ever since I was a little girl I had dreamed of that moment of walking down the aisle and seeing the look on my husband's face...
It was definitely worth the wait!
Because of that, you will have to wait to see the photos of us together :)

Head over to Val's blog to check out more 'before the ceremony' posts and link up yours!

*Also I am over at Life with the Hawleys today sharing my meal plan strategy
so go visit Darby too!

And one more thing, let's not forget it Hunger Games DAY!!!
Ahhh! Finally!
I am super jealous of anyone that saw it last night at midnight.

Have a FANTASTIC weekend!

A Cut Above

Mar 22, 2012

We have a wedding next weekend I am stumped as to what to wear.
I have a few options in my closet
but something new sounds like a much better idea.
I have recently heard about an online boutique from Miss Kentucky Priss, Jess
Let me tell you, this stuff is CUTE!
(and very well priced to boot!)

I really love this chevron dress
and this pink and orange color blocked dress
and I think this striped tunic dress could be great with a sparkly belt I have
and I really love the open back on this tribal print dress
Told you these were adorable!
Check out the rest of their shop for more adorable items (especially the jewelry).
Even if I don't get one for the wedding, these have Keeneland written all over them!

Which one is your favorite?
Should I order one??
How do I choose?

Green Thumb?

Mar 21, 2012

One evening last Summer, Mister and I were strolling through Lowes (we lead an exciting life)
and I came upon a mega flower sale.
I picked up 2 flats (is that what they are called?) of flowers for super cheap.
I'm talking $.13 a bulb cheap.
I quickly snatched them up and started planting.
Now, I do not know a whole lot about planting flowers
but I figured I would plant the bulbs and see what happened this Spring.
Well, look what happened...

These beauties popped up basically over night

Our magnolia tree has also started blooming
Isn't that pink color fantastic?

And one more peek at our yard...

Hope you're having a great Wednesday, friends!

DIY: Bordered Drapes

Mar 20, 2012

One of the goals on our 2012 list was to add a border to our master bedroom window treatments.
And a border, I did!

I had recently purchased a set of plain brown panels at TJ Maxx awhile ago
and as soon as I hung them up, I realized they were not quite wide enough for our windows.
They worked, but I wanted them to be a little fuller.

I found a patterned orange fabric at Hobby Lobby and quickly got to measuring and sewing
Well, I got to it right after a few phone calls, emails and conversations with my mother-in-law.
She knows all things sewing.
 1. The fabric was 45" wide so I divided that into 4 equal parts and cut the fabric accordingly
2. I folded each of those sections in half and ironed them to create a crisp edge
 3. I pinned and sewed a 1/2" hem on each end
4. I then sewed a 3" border on each end
*be sure not to sew the vertical sides closed (on the top portion) or else you will not be able thread the curtain rod through the hem.  Not that I know this from experience or anything, just a warning.
Once I had all of the borders sewn it was time to attach the strips to the curtains.
I laid the curtains out and pinned the strips to them.
And Floyd helped.

"Mom, you are doing this all wrong"
5. Now it was time to attach the strips to the curtains
This was probably the most time consuming part
But, alas, four strips down and it was time to hang these bad boys up!
6. Ta Da!
Here is the final product.
(sorry these photos are crisper- the lighting in our bedroom is a little weird)

(Don't be jealous of our awesome teal carpet. This is hopefully changing very, very soon)

Now let me just be honest...these are not perfect.
By any means.
Hence why you are not getting any up close photos.
Let's just say I need some work on sewing in a straight line.
I know it sounds easy enough but
because these were so long (84") it was a little difficult to get that much fabric to stay straight.
All in all, I do like the way they look from afar and I am proud of myself for trying.
I think I am just able ready to tackle my next sewing adventure...
what should it be??
