Weekend Wrap Up and Birthday!!

Dec 31, 2012

Why hello last day of 2012....also known as my BIRTHDAY!!
Whoooo!

2012 has been a great year...
both in TBC land and in life in general.
I am so very thankful for all of my blogging buds.
I never knew that joining this blogging world would lead to such great friends.
Can't wait to see what 2013 holds!
#fullandhappyheart
I'll have a recap later this week of my favorite 2012 moments.
I am also planning on posting our 2013 goals soon as well.
I was thinking of making it a link up...thoughts on this?
Maybe seeing everyone's goals would be helpful to inspire one another to have successful and prosperous 2013.

On to our weekend...
We had a movie date Friday night to see Django Unchained.
Really, really good!
I'm not going to lie, it's a little gory at parts but I highly recommend it.

Saturday we headed to Indianapolis to see our friends and celebrate Maggie's graduation from law school!
We had lunch with the kiddos that I used to babysit for.
It was so, so great to see them and their parents.

Then we partied the night away with great food and drink.
Floyd even got in on the action...I found him at one point, downstairs by his lonesome, licking a split beer off the floor.
Needless to say, his ears were covered in beer and someone will be starting the new year with a bath.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Hope everyone has the BEST time tonight celebrating!!

I'm off to get a birthday mani!

Floyd's Friends: Domesticability

Dec 28, 2012

Friday, whooo!
Who has big plans this weekend and who is saving up for NYE (or my birthday, whichever you choose to celebrate :) )?

We are still recovering from our Christmas break and Floyd has really been loving having me home all day (yay for bosses who give you the week after Christmas off).
There was been major organization, cleaning, and extra snuggles going on around the house.
And I just realized I never showed you guys our Christmas card!
You can see that blogging has really influenced my life...
gold polka dot sweater, bubble necklace and chevron...

Today we have Lura and Toby from Domesticability with us today!
Lura has been a long time friend and follower of TBC and we are so happy to have her and Toby here with us today!
_____________________________________________________________________________
Hi! I'm Toby!
Thanks Floyd for having me in your territory. I promise not to mark my scent anywhere. This is my mum Lura.  She has a blog  She's newly married and trying to be domesticated. She's okay at it but still needs improvement.
This is my dad Rich. We like naps but only in our recliner.
Being a blogger furson means one thing...Photos. Usually while wearing stuff.
Like ties.
And Sweaters. (I actually didn't mind this one. It brought out the brown in my eyes)
With all of that said, being a blogger's son does have it's perks. Sometimes I get to take photos in my bed with my bone and Scrabble art (made by mum).
Mum and Dad like DIY stuff. They made an entertainment center from scratch.
You can read more about that here and check out how I helped them paint!
We have a new house so mum and dad are always working on a project. If you like food, DIY, wedding stuff (more to come on that), and community service you should follow my mum. And if you think I am cute, you should definitely follow her blog
Ok Mum...a deal is a deal...now give me my new toy ..I wrote the blog post!
-Toby
______________________________________________________________________________
Toby, you are a blog rock star!
And he is exactly right, his mum is a DIY star!!
I think as soon as Floyd sees this he's going to be commissioning some of those scrabble letters!
Go say hello to Lura and Toby and catch up on their adventures!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Blessed.

Dec 27, 2012

Oh hey blogging break...oops!
I am back and in action now after a wonderful Christmas with friends and family.
The Mister, Floyd and I are truly blessed and were able to spend a lot of quality time with loved ones.
Although I did not take nearly enough photos over break, here is a small snapshot at our holiday.
(see we did finally get more cards! love all our sweet friends!)

Some of my favorite gifts: basset shirt, swan shirt, electric wine opener (early birthday gift from my mama, she knows me well), TOMs wedges, beautiful jewelry and scarves, and more!
And some of Misters favorites: Frye boots and LL Bean Duck boots, comfy snuggle clothes and a Sonic gift card.
We were definitely spoiled this year.
Floyd got LOTS of bones, treats, and a new bed.
My mom got him a coat but ol boy is a little too big for it...fat dog in a little coat.
We are on a hunt for one that will fit around his chest and be long enough for him.

And in an extra special Christmas treat, our friend Whitney brought home her Great Dane puppy, Jax.
Stop the cuteness.

We sincerely hope that you and your families had a wonderful holiday!

Floyd's Friends: Helene In Between

Dec 21, 2012

Why hello FRIDAY!
And the Friday before Christmas at that!
We made it!

Floyd, Mister and I would like to say a very special Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all our TBC friends!
We love you all so much and hope you have a fabulous holiday with friends and family!
We will be taking a few days off next week but will be back after Christmas!

Now on to Floyd's Friends!
Please welcome Helene and her adorable man Hugo!
____________________________________________________________________________

Hi Total Basset Case Readers!
I'm Helene and the dog is Hugo.
Hugo is an interesting little fellow and by that I mean he is
Hugo is a 2 and half year old Doberman that came into our lives only a year ago.
It's crazy that he has only been around a year. It feels like our dog-child has always been here.
I love the dog, more than most humans, but my husband's obsession is borderline crazy.
Let me explain.
Is this portrait not ridiculous?! The trainer that we work with took this of him and sent it to us.
Hugo looks terrifying, and he can be.
He does schutzhund training, which is a form of obedience and...he can bite people on command.
I know he looks terrifying but he wouldn't hurt a fly. He is the sweetest dog I have ever seen. And he is actually less guard dog-ish than we wanted.
Here he is attacking a "bad guy" (with my husband holding the leash)
He really enjoys eating raw chicken (this is what we feed him), getting back scratches, resting his head on every place imaginable,
getting into trouble (like eating casserole dishes the day we are having a party) and dressing up, especially as a lobster.
I had no idea I would have a dog like this, I grew up with prissy English Springer Spaniels, but the husband got what he wanted, and I couldn't be happier. Especially since I fell 20 feet rock climbing. I was worried he would jump all over me, but he has been so calm and sweet.
I have always been a dog lover, but after having Hugo I am Doberman lover.
Hugo graces my blog, Helene in Between all the time, so stop by sometime!
_________________________________________________________________________
Oh my goodness, I just want to snuggle up with Hugo, he seems like such a sweetie!

Please go visit Helene and Hugo and tell them hi!!
And I highly encourage you to check out her post from yesterday, hilarious.

Floyd's Friends will continue into the new year, but in a slightly different format.
If you and your pooch want to take part in Floyd's Friends just shoot me an email at totalbassetcase{at}gmail{dot}com and we will get you the details and put you on the schedule!

Currently...

Dec 20, 2012

I saw this post idea over at Katie's blog and have been wanting to do my own version

Currently I am...

Reading: blogs, but other than those I have been slacking on my reading.  I'm hoping to do some over Christmas break.  Although I did start randomly getting Women's Health and InStyle in the mail for some reason so I've been browsing through those.
Watching: we just watched the season finales of Dexter and Homeland and are still in shock and have so many questions. The idea that we have to wait 9 months for them to start back up is excruciating!

Eating: energy balls.
We can NOT stop. They are so good and the perfect combination of protein and deliciousness. I'm talking I've probably made 5 batches in the last month or so.
We are obsessed.

Looking Forward To: a break from work and having some relaxing time off.
And, of course, Christmas, my birthday and seeing the besties!!

Thinking About: why Floyd has been such a nut case lately?!
He has been running around like a WILD man every day.
He has been lunging at the counters trying to steal dinner, nosing through my purse nonstop, and running away with spools of wrapping ribbon.
I have tried to tell him Santa is watching...
Needless to say, there are have been a few time outs lately.
And when he gets out, he goes immediately to sleep, as if he has done nothing wrong.
Smiling About: my boys.
And looking at all of the gifts wrapped and ready to go under our tree for our friends and family.

Loving: that we are going to see all of our friends and family soon and celebrate Christmas!!
And eat our hearts out...

Dreaming About: What Santa could possibly be bringing me?!
A few items I told Santa I wanted: tortoise watch, monogram necklace, anything and everything from Sephora, comfy and cute pj's

What is currently going on in your life??

Spectacles

Dec 19, 2012

So I've told you guys before about how I've never had my eyes checked.
Ever.
And I can see just fine.
BUT I do have this small obsession with having fake glasses.
Every time I go into Urban or around my girlfriends that have glasses, I put them on.

Well when Firmoo asked if I would like a free pair of glasses to try out I was all over it.
I jumped on to their website and choose this pair and they were on their way to me.
Thankfully, they have non prescription glasses and my dreams of wearing fake glasses were able to come true!

Guys, I LOVE these glasses and have sorta been wearing them allll the time.
The Mister thinks I may have lost my mind, but I am in love.
The Firmoo site is easy to navigate and they have so many great options to choose from! Not to mention their virtual try on option...makes seeing how the glasses will look on you so easy!
Firmoo also has the first pair FREE program so you can try out a pair of (prescription or NONprescription) glasses for free and only pay shipping!

At least one of the boys in my house are excited about my new glasses.
I assume Floyd is thinking, 'wow, Mama, I like your glasses. All the better to see my treats with!  Now you can feed me even more!'
Doesn't he look dapper?
Why, yes that is slobber on my knee. I told you Floyd was really excited about the glasses.

And the Keysocks giveaway winner is...
Michelle!
I'll send you an email, girl!

*These glasses were provided to me for free but the opinions are my own.

Weekend Wrap Up: Party City

Dec 17, 2012

*Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families in Newtown, CT.
Such an awful, awful tragedy. I just can't fathom what those families are dealing with.

Busy is an understatement for our weekend.
But it was beyond fun.

Friday night we had my work Christmas party.
Great food, drinks and company.
And charades with elf hats on.
A good time was had by all.
So much so that I left my camera there.
So it's an iPhone picture weekend wrap up this week.

Saturday the Mister and I went our separate ways to do more shopping during the day.
That evening we headed to Katie's for a delicious dinner party and had a great time!
(craisins, feta, cream cheese on tortillas) for apps.
I highly recommend the bacon wrapped potatoes.
Clearly delicious. I mean I'm pretty sure you can wrap bacon on anything and it's delicious.
These were no different.
We love going to Katie and Derek's because Floyd gets to join in on the fun.
Doesn't he look thrilled?
 (picture stolen borrowed from Katie)

Sunday we had a going away party for a friend.
We had a quick lunch at Bakersfield.
Short rib tacos, yes please.

And I want to say an extra special CONGRATS to Bethany who got engaged yesterday!!!!
Whooooo! SO happy for her!!

Here's to a great week, friends!
Just gotta get through this week and then it's Christmas time!!

Don't forget you can still enter the Keysocks giveaway!

Floyd's Friends: From Miss to a Mrs

Dec 14, 2012

Thank goodness we made it to Friday.
Things were looking iffy around Wednesday and I wasn't sure I was going to make it.
Work has been bananas lately, good bananas but bananas nonetheless.
(Does any else swing the Gwen Stefani song when they write bananas?)

Moving on...Floyd and I are thrilled to welcome Nikki and her pups to Floyd's Friends this week!
Regardless of what she says about their bad habits, I think all 3 of her pups are adorable!!
Take it away Nikki!
_________________________________________________________________________

Hi there! Thank you so much to Sarah for letting me be a part of Floyd's Friends.  I'm Nikki, and I own the 3 most destructive dogs in the world.  Two are so small you'd think there'd be no way they could destroy anything, but you'd be wrong.  Let me introduce them:
This is Dash. He's the super destructive one. He's 11 months old and weighs about 55 lbs and eats everything.
This is Caesar. He's tiny at 15lbs, but at 7 years old he does things just to annoy mommy.
This is Socrates. He's scared of everything and not intentionally destructive, just accidentally when his brothers make him. He's the middle brother both size and age wise.

Caesar is a big fan of flip flops and underwear, and always has been.  I cannot tell you how many pairs of each I've gone through because he climbs into the low hamper to get them out.
Socrates only destroys thing when one of his brothers has something he wants, then he has to play tug of war to take it from them and usually ends up ripping whatever it is (my shirt for example) in half.

Dash just likes to destroy things.  When we first got him, he ate his crate. Yes, the metal kind with the bars. ATE the bars and wiggled out the hole he made. Then while he was out, he ate the puppy training book and a feather pillow.  I still find feathers everywhere.
Now that he has a new stronger crate, he moves the bottom of the crate and rips up our carpet. All the way down to the concrete underneath.
He also cannot be left too long with toys. If we're not playing fetch with him, he doesn't get the toy because he just sits there and chews and chews until it's gone.
He also likes to jump up on the bed, pee and jump down while my back is turned.
Dash's crowning moment of descruction was a complete accident, but his fault none the less. I was working on a blog post one night, sitting at our dining room table.  Dash was asleep next to me, and thought he heard something. He took off for the door and yanked my brand new pink laptop off into the floor, shattering the screen and mouse pad.  The computer shop said it's irreparable. Dash has no remorse.

All three of them have the same Christmas wish list: TOYS!! Dash needs the heavy duty non fluffy chew toys. The little dogs want stuffed toys, but they have to play with them separately or Dash will rip them to shreds.

Well, I've taken up enough of Sarah's space today.  I hope you've all enjoyed meeting my pups. Come check me (and them) out at From a Miss to a Mrs :)
 _____________________________________________________________________________
I think they look perfectly innocent!
But so does Floyd and we've all seen him get into trouble a time or two...
I know we all love our pups so much and they know just the way to push our buttons, don't they?
Like how Floyd only steals my gloves and runs around the house with them and not the Mister's...rascal.
It's a good thing they are all so stinkin cute!
No go visit Nikki and her pups!!

P.s. Don't forget to enter the Keysocks giveaway!!
And also don't forget to have a fabulous weekend!!

SPD: Christmas Card Frame

Dec 13, 2012

I am back again today joining up with Katie and Steph for another rendition of Saw It Pinned It Did It.

This week, a Christmas card frame.
I pinned this last Christmas season
and this year put it into action.
I used a frame that we already had from our frame wall, and multiple colors and types of ribbon I had in my collection and hung it up on our striped wall

I started with:
a frame (I had or Goodwill is always a good/cheap resource)
hot glue gun and glue sticks
1-5 types of ribbon or fabric
double sided tape (to tape cards on)

This was such an easy and quick project.
Literally, it took me about 5 minutes to do this.
Measure your ribbon or fabric and apply a small dab of hot glue on each side.
Seriously, couldn't be easier.
I was really hoping we would have more Christmas cards before I did this post...
I swear we usually have more than this by now.
#letmeknowifyouneedouraddress

I really like the way this turned out and think I will do it again next year!
It also really makes me want to find a frame/art/mirror for this striped wall now.
First project after the new year...

P.s. I am participating in a giveaway over at Shanna's blog!
Hi to everyone visiting from there!
Or if you stopped here first, go enter the giveaway!!
P.p.s. Don't forget to enter the Keysocks giveaway from yesterday!
