Total Basset Case: Runnin'

Runnin'

Remember last week when I told you I had
a running secret to share with you?

Well here it is...
I've started running.
And I kinda like it.

I'll pause for those of you who know me IRL
and know that I have said many, many times that
I. hate. running.
(In high school I was a cheerleader
and would have to run across the basketball court...
every single time the Mister would tell me I looked like a bounding deer...

So maaaybe I was a little scarred from running in front of people.
I think I have now officially gotten over that teenage embarrassment.)

And now that I have actually begun a running routine,
it is starting (I say that cautiously) to grow on me.

So now not only have I started running but I'm also registered for a race.
A race in which you get dirty, nonetheless.
The besties and I are signed up for the Color Run on July 28th in Indianapolis.
And if that isn't motivation, I'm not sure what is.
Plus, it just looks fun.

I have heard a lot really great
success stories with Couch to 5k
and have decided to go that route.

I am now on week 3 of the program
and really feel like I am getting into a groove.
Color coordinated gear is necessary

I downloaded the C25k app on my phone
and let me tell you,
my (phone) trainer is just the nicest woman!
It is so nice to have a plan and program laid out for you.

It is not easy quite yet but it is starting to be fun.

Any good running tips for me??

P.S. I have already scoped out some adorable running gear
I clearly have my priorities straight.

How far have you made it in the program? I downloaded the program on my phone, too, back in January. I really liked how you could play your music and her nice little voice would come on over it. However, I only got up to running 5 minutes at a time... I felt like it increased really fast! Unfortunately, I fell off the running band wagon... good luck!

My SIL has run marathons, and I just don't get it. I give major props to all the runners out there.

I am with you on the workout gear though! I bought a bunch of new tops and some pants to wear to Zumba in hopes it would make me want to go 3x a week.

Hope you keep enjoying it! I heard the color run is so much fun from everyone.

Good luck!

That's amazing! Congrats! I've been getting back into running as well.

The best advice I can give you is to not let yourself tell you that you can't keep going (sometimes easier said than done). Whether you need and awesome playlist to run to, a beautiful scene or a fun run like the color run, just keep going!

Good luck!

My bestie and I are doing the Color Run in Nashville! But we are walking because you cannot gab when you run. :D

I need to sneakers--my dad bought me Nike Shox for Christmas and I love them because he picked them out, but they look like something an elderly retired man would wear to his early-morning mall walk. ;)

I used to hate running but once I get in the habit of doing it and start seeing results, it's really not that bad. I love your running shoes! What kind are they? I'm in the market for new ones.

Ahh I'm going to do that run here in NYC but the registration isn't freaking up yet. And I will definitely be walking it. I checked the site and I'm allowed to do that. I look like a deer that got shot in all 4 hooves when I run. I was also a cheerleader. Go figure

Sarah, I definitely sympathize! I hate running too and I have started doing it in the mornings with Tomlin. I try to focus on how happy she is rather than how completely miserable I am lol

I absolutely loathe running, but I keep seeing pics from color runs and mud-runs, and it kind of makes me want to do it. Weird?

What had you hating running before, and what's changed now? I used to love running in middle school, got really bad shin splints doing track, and after highschool cheer I never ran again! I can't get myself to love it anymore bc my endurance is down and I get shin splints every time. Bleh :(

I did C2K maybe a year and half ago, and I do certain weeks every now and then to get back into the running spirit! It's a great program - good luck!
