Total Basset Case: Moving into adulthood

Moving into adulthood

Truth time- Mister and I don't have matching bedroom furniture and until this weekend we didn't even have a headboard.  And to think this past weekend marked 4 years that someone let us buy a house and pretend to be real adults.

You would think that in my line of work we would have these furniture details ironed out.
But you know what they say about the cobblers son never having shoes?  It's the same issue that the interior designer's house is never, ever done and there's always a project to do list a mile long.

We've had 'headboard' on our to do list since about day one of moving in our house.
So as to not rush into things, we finally crossed that one off this weekend.

We had always envisioned an old door of some sort as our headboard but hadn't come across one that we loved.  Last spring I had new bi-fold doors put on my closet and suddenly we had an old (free!) door- jackpot!

And finally this weekend I got around to painting it, with some help of course
and we really, really love how it turned out!
I sorta love the quirky hole for the door handle at the top but I think I want a crystal or some sort of fun knob to put in there eventually.  I think a trip to Anthropologie is in order.
And now I feel like we are sorta, maybe, just about real adults, with almost a real bedroom suite.

Now who wants to help us with nightstands?

Stop back by tomorrow to see how this was the easiest (and cheapest) DIY I've done in awhile!

Um I LOVE the headboard. Caleb and I FINALLY bought a giant picture frame to put by our door when you walk into our apartment... We're getting there, maybe by next year we'll have a new wall piece to add? ;) but at this rate, probably not! Haha...I think a door knob from anthro is a GREAT idea!

I'm pretty sure I'm several years older than you and I don't have a headboard either. I just can't go to the trouble and just one more thing to move when I apartment hop. Haha. Yours looks great! Oh and seeing those 2 dogs together just makes me want a basset even more. asap!

I don't know why bedroom furniture is so hard... but it was years before we had a headboard too! So clever of you to create one like this, and I think an Anthro knob is a great idea.

I've never done my bedroom either. i can't figure out what I like!! For some reason master bedrooms are my least favorite room in the house to decorate. I like you outside the box thinking on this one!
