Total Basset Case: Smitten with the Mitten

Smitten with the Mitten

This past weekend we traveled to Michigan to see our dear friends, the Beckers
Friday afternoon we snuck out of work early, loaded up Floyd and our snow boots (I will find any excuse in the book to wear my Hunters) in the car and headed north.
We arrived right at dinner time, saddled up to the table for yummy pizza and spent the night playing with the kids and relaxing.

Saturday we headed up to Ann Arbor to eat at the famous Zingerman's Deli.  It was just as delicious as everyone told us it would be.  There was a line out the door when we arrived. To keep us occupied in line, they handed out samples and led you through their store with cheese and sausage.  Judge me if you will, but I will follow anyone that is handing out delicious cheese, leading me to other delicious food.

That afternoon we headed to Jack's soccer game and Josie performed some dental work on me.
And Floyd napped.  And napped.  Keeping up with 3 kids and 2 dogs is really hard work, guys.
At one point in the weekend we couldn't find Floyd.  After quite awhile of searching we found him in the basement, in one of the kids tents, snoozing away.  While he gave us a panic, he does get points for creativity.

For dinner we headed into downtown Detroit.  We had delish drinks at Sugar House and an even tastier dinner at a new place, Gold Cash Gold
I had the short ribs and Mister (and the rest of the table!) had the fried chicken.  And for good reason, it was stellar.

We had a fabulous weekend with even better friends we had not seen in far too long!
Oh and I whipped up some delicious Oreo themed treats that I will share with you soon!

Oh how fun! Ann Arbor is a great town, and it's been a long time since I've been to Detroit (after living in that area until I was 10), but I keep hearing about great restaurant offerings there.

Wondered what happened to you for ladies' night on Friday, but obviously I approve of a MI trip :) And you'll have to skip out early on a Friday sometime this summer and make it over to the west side of the state, which is even better (in my humble opinion). I'll take you to the beach!

So many tasty food photos!! I am officially ready for dinner tonight- although leftovers aren't nearly as exciting as the yummy stuff you guys had! ;)
