Total Basset Case: Fridays with Floyd: Crazy Dog Lady

Fridays with Floyd: Crazy Dog Lady

I'm not sure if you guys are aware or not but we are just a tad obsessed with Floyd.
And our poor little man has been acting strang(er) than normal this week.
I think with the bathroom changes and the construction to our house/moving things around he is just out of sorts.
(For example; he's been spending a lot of time in my bathtub for some reason)
He realllly hates change and I think it's all just throwing him for a loop.
And I can't stand it.

So the other night we were lounging on the couch and I decided to scoop him up and snuggle him.  And he obliged.
Which ended in this...
I am 100% aware this makes me look like the craziest dog lady
BUT I love it.
(I promise my hair is wet not a grease ball)

He just needed some extra lovin that night and that's what he got.
Plus the smell of frito paws right in my face was fabulous.
We ended up falling asleep like that for over an hour.
Well, I fell asleep for an hour, Floyd fell asleep for the rest of the night.
Sometimes snuggling with my bubba is far more important than any task around the house, blogging or getting anything else done.

I understand it's not nearly the same but I read this post by Jackie the other day about saying 'yes' more often and it's really stuck with me.  I know raising children isn't the same as a dog but we are responsible for Floyd's well being and happiness. And even though he may not be a human child, I think it's still important to say 'yes' (within safety and reason) to him just the same when he needs it.  Sometimes that may be some extra snuggles, an dollop of peanut butter or an extra walk, we are happy to oblige.
And if for no other reason than the fact that nothing makes me happier than seeing that (13"-yes we've measured it) tail wag back and forth.

*End crazzzzy dog mom rant*
Here's to hoping he's back to his rascalling self soon!
Needless to say, he's been getting a few extra bones and peanut butter this week to coerce him back into his old self.

Do your pups get out of sort when you change things around?
What crazy things do you do for your pups?

i have a kid and even i think that having a pet is the same as having a kid! the attachment you feel for pets is pretty damn close to kids and the only difference is that you didn't give birth to it!

so snuggle as much as you can :)

Awww. This might just be the sweetest photo ever. YES to extra cuddles, snuggles, and peanut butter (for the happiness of both me and my doggies)!

I hope it is not an ear infection! I sound like my MIL always thinking that when a kid acts funny that they are sick. As a basset parent, I just always go for the ears.

That is funny that he gets in the bathtub, Bax tries to stay far away from anything that emits water.

I love that picture!!!

You are totally not alone! My golden retriever, Charlee is spoiled rotten. One of his favorite things is going to Petco to pick out a new toy every Saturday after the dog park. We took him to the vet last Friday for an allergy problem and there was the CUTEST baby bassett you had ever seen. She was only a couple months old and I thought of Floyd. Her name was Molly and she was darling! I wanted to pick her up and take her home. :)

I will stop everything for a snuggle friend. That picture is the BEST!

I totally think it's important to give those extra snuggles, snacks, and walks to our fur babies! Our dog always acts a little off when we are packing for a trip (he will sit by the garage door so we don't leave without him). So now since we're packing up our home and moving he is needing LOTS of love...I'm off to buy him a new toy today. :)

MB doesn't do well with change unless one of us is with her while it's going on. I think she believes that as long as one of us is with her, everything will be okay. Snuggling with the pups are my favorite!!

Sophie gets in the bath tub if she gets scared while we are not home. Pretty much anytime the UPS man comes he rings the doorbell multiple times i guess and she goes in there. Poor Floyd, he is just feeling like something is going to happen. Those dogs, so perceptive. I'm sure cuddles was just what he needed. Sophie has had a lot of weird ailments lately (eating too much goose poop and her stomach being out of wack is one #strangebassetproblems) so i let her sleep in the bed a few nights this week and i think it has made a huge difference! You are right, they arent human kids but they are just as much looking to us for love and attention!! you are a great basset mama!

have a good weekend! xo

Aww Floyd. I feel like the worst dog owner ever - ours is alone a lot during the week. Sometimes if its been a really lonely week he'll "act out" by raiding the fridge and wedging sticks of butter in the couch cushions, or eating furniture...how I wish I was kidding.

First of all, thanks for the link shout out, what a great surprise! And I agree that saying yes to anything in our life helps more the better, whether it be kids, pets, husbands, friends, etc. Happy weekend!

Aww. Such a sweet post! Yes, my gigantic German Shepherd baby, Dexter, is quite sensitive. As you just demonstrated in that adorable picture, almost everything can be solved with some extra cuddling for him as well. Hope Floyd is back to normal soon!

Aw! That photo is so sweet!!! I don't think that's crazy at all (although this is coming from a fellow crazy dog mom)! I love that he cuddles like that, and it's so sweet for you to hive him extra attention when he needs it!

We always say that babies are just puppies that slowly learn to talk:) I am going to do a pup before the real tiny humans because I think practice can make a huge difference. You definitely have the mindset of a momma and the picture is absolutely adorable!

My dogs are very sensitive to changes in their environment or routine. One is super sensitive to fireworks and thunder. I am responsible for their comfort and happiness, so I take the time to coddle them and lay with them when they (or I!) need it.
