SPD: Lookin Fly in a Tie

I am back at it with SPD and linking up with Katie and Steph today!
I really love that this link up forces me to get some pins 'crossed' off my boards, meet new friends and be inspired by everyone's awesome creations!
And do I ever have a great DIY for you today.

We all know that Floyd is a stylish and hip man about town.
And I was thinking that with spring coming up, he could use even more sprucing up.
I mean everyone needs some new clothes for spring.  Duh.  (That's gotta be a rule somewhere...)

I first saw this DIY from Decor and the Dog (Michelle and her handsome pup Ike are adorable-check them out!)
As soon as I saw it I knew Floyd needed it.

(Late last night) I broke out the springy-est fabric I could find and my trusty sewing machine and whipped up a tie for Mr. Floyd.  It was very easy and took me less than an hour (my favorite type of project).
I followed Michelle's instructions but ended up making Floyd's tie a tad shorter than she does on her tutorial.  He's so low to the ground I didn't want it dragging all over.  But this one did end up a bit shorter than I was expecting so I will definitely add some length on the next one.
I think on the next one I will also use a thinner fabric and work on sewing a straight line (constant battle between my sewing machine and me).  This fabric was almost too thick to be able to turn inside out once it was sewn together.
Ready for a night on the town!
Isn't he dapper?
I love the springy fabric; his own little interpretation of madras shorts.

(And yes, he was in the middle of saving his chickies from their barn...such a helpful boy).

He looks so dashing in his new duds! What a cutie! And don't worry, I can't sew a straight line either. I need some serious practice, ha. I've only had my sewing machine for OH 6+ years (sadz).

Stop it right now. I can't even handle this cute and handsome boy!!! Holly asked if her belated birthday present was Floyd coming to visit and taking her for a night on the town. I told her I'd see what I could do... what do ya think, mama?? He sure looks ready! :)

Dying, just dying over here. Pierre has a seersucker bow tie, and together with that spring plaid tie, he and Floyd look they're ready for a spring fashion shoot. So dapper and charming, Floyd. And springlike, with those chickens! So smart getting those out of the barn. So smart.

Also, teach me how to sew. I have a machine, but zero knowledge. The end.
