My Sweet Boy

We all know that Floyd lives the life of luxury.  And he would not have it any other way.  Truthfully, neither would we ;)  Treats are his number one currency and the direct path to his heart.  They also usually improve his hearing, somehow...
I was recently at WalMart pursuing the treat aisle and just had to pick up a few goodies for Mr. Floyd.
A few versions Milkbones and Pup-Peronis just happened to jump in my cart.
At first I thought I would save these for his Valentine's Day gift.
Then Floyd came up with the grand idea of sharing these goodies with his doggie besties with Valentine's Day treat bags.
He just has the sweetest heart.

So we set to work and put some bags together for his buddies.  Well, I put the bags together, he demanded a treat for each one I put together.
We gave everyone a mix of treats and a sweet note.

Rello friends...check your mailboxes soon for some goodies.

Floyd is a sweet boy, but man is he demanding as a model! Good thing he is cute.
Floyd says to check out treatthepups.com to find even more adorable Valentine's Day treat ideas for your furry loves.

Make sure to connect with Milkbone on Facebook and Twitter and also Pup-Peroni.

SPD Recipe: Kitchen Sink Oatmeal Cookies

Last week I saw this pin and was immediately intrigued.
2 ingredient cookies, could it be true?
Could they be good?!

Turns out it is true and they are good!
The first batch I made I added a handful of craisins and that turned out well.
But I felt like they needed just a little something else.
My wheels started spinning of all the options I could add to them while still keeping them pretty darn healthy.

I am a big fan of a little sweet treat after dinner and these definitely fit the bill.

So after the first batch was gone embarrassingly quick, I got to thinking about how to improve the second batch.  I ended up adding a few more items.
Kitchen Sink Oatmeal Cookies
-2/3 (semi ripe) bananas
-1 cup oats
-1/4 cup chocolate chips
-1/3 cup craisins
-2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional)
-2 teaspoons cinnamon
-1/3 cup flax seeds

1. Preheat oven to 350 and grease a cookie sheet
2. Mash up bananas in a bowl
3. Add oats
4. Add remaining ingredients
5. Scoop cookie 'dough' onto cookie sheet
6. Bake for 20-24 minutes until tops are slightly firm
7. Enjoy!

The options for these are literally endless...hence the kitchen sink title.  You could literally add just about everything BUT the kitchen sink and make these delicious.
I also love that they are virtually fat free.

They are delicious after dinner or warmed up for a few seconds in the microwave for breakfast.
My mind is already swirling what to add in the next batch.
Here are my thoughts so far on variations to try:
-almond butter
-crushed up nuts
-coconut flakes
-honey

Let me know if you make these!

Birthday Treats for Mister

I mentioned yesterday that someone in our house (the one I'm married to, not the 4 legged one) has a birthday coming up this weekend!
I've also mentioned that I kinda LOVE birthdays and think a HUGE deal should be made of them.
Hey, why not??
So, of course, Mister's definitely needs to be a production of fun and all of his favorite things.  Treats, favorite foods, friends, and, course, presents!

Well if you guys need to know anything about Mister it's that he loves anything peanut butter and chocolate.
Anything Reeses is his ultimate downfall and he will eat them until the cows come home.
He LOVES them.

Enter the wonderful world of Pinterest, where everything ever created with peanut butter and chocolate is at my fingertips.  I seem to have pinned every single item,  all in preparation for Mister's birthday.
It dawned on me that I couldn't possibly make all of those treats for his birthday (even though I'm pretty sure he wouldn't complain if I did) so I should probably narrow them down to the ones that looked the best (and didn't require 47 steps) and let him choose.
I know, I know, I am so nice, letting him choose his birthday treat rather than me deciding.

Here are the choices I gave him:
Which would you choose?
Which do you think he chose?

You will have to come back next week to see!!

Happy Halloween!

Happy candy day, friends!
Who is ready for the trick or treaters?
Floyd sure is!
He had a trial run in his costume yesterday.
The full reveal will be tomorrow!

I picked up a boatload of candy last night but still have no idea if it'll be enough!
I guess if we run out, we run out!
And secretly I hope we run out at the end of the night so that it's not sitting around our house afterwards.

Katie is coming over to help us hand out candy and stuff ourselves on taco soup and spiked cider.
And probabbbly a few pieces of candy...

Sweet Treat

Last week Bethany asked if I wanted to get Yagoot with her one evening.
Duh.
My mama has always told me that ice cream (or tart yogurt) is a suitable dinner.
And you can't argue with your mama.

Then this week Bethany came to the rescue again with news of a new yogurt place in Kenwood.
I told her we should probably continue our weekly tradition and try this place out.
I mean we needed to make sure it was safe for everyone to be eating.

Orange Leaf is one of the trendy new yogurt/ice cream places where you pay by the weight.
Orange Leaf is very similar to Coldstone (my ultimate fave) but with yogurt.

There were probably 20 different yogurt choices along a brightly tiled orange wall
and then just as many toppings to choose from.
The flavors ranged from peanut butter to key lime pie to mango to raspberry.

I chose brownie batter and cheesecake

Not knowing exactly how the pricing would work out we didn't want to go too overboard with our choices.
We both chose two yogurt flavors and a multitude of toppings.
Their pricing is $.49/ounce (which is sneakily not posted anywhere).
Ours ended up being between $5 and $7.

Strawberries, Reese's Pieces, Chocolate Chips, Oreo Bits, Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Brownie Batter and Raspberry with Strawberries and Oreo Bits

 Clearly I hated it
P.S. Their spoons are shaped like shovels...

Overall it was yummy but I felt like the yogurt flavors could have been stronger.
I think I would choose Coldstone or Yagoot first.
But then again I love all frozen ice cream like treats sooo...I wouldn't turn it down if it came by way.
Or I was driving past and needed a sweet treat.
