Total Basset Case: Sushi Class

Sushi Class

As I mentioned on Monday we took a sushi class with some friends this weekend!
Admittedly, I know not the hugest fan of sushi but lately it has really been growing on me.
It could the tempura ones with a mayo sauce on them but I'll take what I can get.

However as my mother says, 'I don't think God intended for you to eat raw fish.'
But I really want to like it, so I keep trying.
Our instructor explained to us what the class would entail and we got to work.
We started with mashing down sticky rice to the nori paper and added the veggies.
We added either crab or spicy tuna and go to rolling them up.
We did one version with the rice on the inside of the paper and the other version with the rice on the outside.
 Look at that roll!
I did get an 'honorable mention' for my roll.
I did not win the best looking one but for my first time, I think it wasn't half bad.

So fun!! I have always wanted to do this. I think your sushi roll is just fabulous. If it eats, it's just perfect, right?

Ha, I love your beautiful roll!! I'm such a fan of sushi, I could eat it daily, so keep on trying things and eventually I bet you'll love it!

I've always wanted to take a sushi-making class, but I know it'll be much harder than it looks!

How fun! I'm "trying" to like sushi too. I've only tried it twice now, and I haven't been too adventurous because I really don't want to eat the raw nasty stuff either haha!

We love sushi!!! Your roll looks great! When ever I make it, I always have the hardest time rolling it tightly.

Fun! I have got to try this. Tempura makes everything delicious, and there are plenty of non-raw sushi roll options to get you into things. It took me a little while, but then I had the real thing in Japan (just straight up raw fish, no rice or anything), and now I love sushi rolls :)

I so want to take a sushi making class. I just recently started liking it but I stick to the pretty safe ones like the spicy California roll. Ha!
