Weekend Wrap Up : Double the Love

This Monday you are getting a double weekend wrap up, aren't you lucky?

Last weekend was spent in Indy with the besties and then last week just did not go well and got away from me.  SO here is a double round up.

As I said, last weekend we headed to Indy to see the friends and celebrate a gender reveal!
It's a girl for Maggie!

It was downright amazing to spend a semi low key weekend with the besties just chattin it up!
And wandering through BabyGap looking at all of the tiny, adorable things.

We were even able to FaceTime Marge.  It was so glorious to see her face :)

And this past l-o-v-e weekend we headed home to see our parents and celebrate Mister's birthday (coming up on Tuesday!)
Friday night my mama made Mister a Mississippi roast and a derby pie, he was in heaven!
Saturday we were very, very lazy and then headed to a dinner theater for the evening.
Valentine's Day

we started the day off with brunch with Mister's mama and then headed back home. Mister and I had a very romantic gym date and then made dinner together, our favorite Thai pizza.
Snuggles with the basset rounded out our lovely day.

Oh! And this weekend I tried out Kroger's ClickList* (essentially a grocery pick up service, genius!).  I put my order in on Friday night, chose a pick up time and then we swung by Kroger on Sunday to pick it up.  It really could not have been easier.  I actually do not mind going to the grocery if we've been home and I've had time to prepare a meal plan and a list.  But if we have been out of town, going to the grocery is the last thing I want to do.  So this service is GENIUS.

*Kroger has no idea who I am but if they want me to be a ClickList ambassador I am happy to do that.

My Sweet Boy

We all know that Floyd lives the life of luxury.  And he would not have it any other way.  Truthfully, neither would we ;)  Treats are his number one currency and the direct path to his heart.  They also usually improve his hearing, somehow...
I was recently at WalMart pursuing the treat aisle and just had to pick up a few goodies for Mr. Floyd.
A few versions Milkbones and Pup-Peronis just happened to jump in my cart.
At first I thought I would save these for his Valentine's Day gift.
Then Floyd came up with the grand idea of sharing these goodies with his doggie besties with Valentine's Day treat bags.
He just has the sweetest heart.

So we set to work and put some bags together for his buddies.  Well, I put the bags together, he demanded a treat for each one I put together.
We gave everyone a mix of treats and a sweet note.
 #qualitycontrol
Rello friends...check your mailboxes soon for some goodies.

Floyd is a sweet boy, but man is he demanding as a model! Good thing he is cute.
Floyd says to check out treatthepups.com to find even more adorable Valentine's Day treat ideas for your furry loves.

Make sure to connect with Milkbone on Facebook and Twitter and also Pup-Peroni.

DIY Valentine Cards...With A Basset

Because who doesn't want a little basset love in their mailbox?

I was in Target the other day and had a stack of Valentine's Day cards in my hand.
I took a second and thought, 'I have a million craft supplies at home, I can make my own cards and it won't cost me $20.'
And then the wheels kept turning and I thought, 'why not include Floyd in on this fun?'
Because when you look at Floyd, I know you are all thinking he has the crafting gene written all over him.

I gathered a few of supplies and set to work.
We also had to wrangle Floyd to trace his paw.
He really wasn't into it but we got it done because every good Valentine's Day card needs a pawtograph.
True fact- those are left over wedding invitations.
Then I pulled out my best 1st grade craft talents, folded a piece of paper in half and cut out some hearts.
A little double sided tape and sweet notes later, Floyd's valentines were ready to go out!
And to all of our bloggy buddies, consider this an early Happy Valentine's Day from Floyd and I!

{DIY} : Valentine's Day Burlap Banners

Last weekend my neighbor texted me and said, 'I'm drinking coffee and crafting, want to come over?'
I couldn't gather my supplies fast enough.

Also can we talk about how fabulous it is to have amazing neighbors?
Our neighbors two doors down are out of the park fantastic, sweet, helpful and caring.
It's the best thing basically ever.
Not to mention I came home to a fabric heart banner in our mailbox the other day...I'm telling you, the best.

So to gear up for the 'ol love day, I thought I'd whip up an easy Valentine's Day craft.
I'm not sure you can even call this a DIY because it is so easy but here we go.
Supplies:
Burlap
Felt
Paint
Hot glue gun
Ribbon
Coffee

I made this up as I went but it went something like this:
1.  Cut a rectangle of burlap and felt.  Make sure the burlap is a little taller than the felt so you can fold the top over to attach the ribbon on the back.
2. Hot glue felt to the burlap (careful! if you felt isn't thick the glue may come through the burlap, don't burn your fingers!)
3.  Paint your design on your burlap.  Wait for it to dry-should only take a few moments.
4. Turn banner over and hot glue ribbon the length you want to the back.
5. Hang up!
See, SO easy and you could definitely make these for all the holidays! Or I think it would be super cute to do multiple ones on a long ribbon.
Love is in the air!

Recipe: Fig and Prosciutto Pizza

For our Valentine's meal at home last week we decided to make Fig and Prosciutto pizza!
We LOVE homemade pizza and I was already buying prosciutto for the champagne risotto that was on our menu so the pizza was a no brainer!

I used a combination of Pioneer Woman's recipe here and this recipe.

Fig and Prosciutto Pizza
-1 Pizza dough (I usually make my own but picked one up at Trader Joe's this time-it was really good, I'm not sure I'll make my own ever again.)
-Fig jam or butter (again, Trader Joe's had fig butter-amazing.  Like an apple butter consistency)
-5-8 slices of Prosciutto
-Parmesan (shavings) and mozzarella to cover

1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Prepare and roll out dough (if using TJ's set it out on the counter for about 20 minutes to get to room temperature)
3. Cover dough with fig jam or butter.  I was pretty liberal with mine, I probably used about 4-5 tablespoons
4. Cover fig butter with a mix of Parmesan and mozzarella
5. Bake for 12-15 minutes
6. Immediately when the pizza comes out of the oven spread prosciutto over cheese.  The heat will help the prosciutto sort of melt into the cheese and fig butter

No, I didn't make our crust into a heart shape...that would be weird...

Yum O! This pizza was quick and delicious...perfect for a weeknight meal.
It was a great salty sweet combo...my favorite combo in the world.

Speaking of salty sweet, I can't believe I forgot to tell you guys what we had a bite of at Beer Fest...doughnut burger...don't judge.
(Between that and the fried butter, we are on a roll this year.)
Now, I LOVE salty sweet but even this was a little much for me and one bite was plenty.
But now I can cross it off of things I've tried in life...ha.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide: For Him and Her

So all of a sudden Valentine's Day is next week!
What?!
The Mister and I don't do huge gifts for Valentine's but we do like to do a little something for each other.
And the Mister gets extra spoiled because his birthday is 2 days after Valentine's Day.
BUT those are always separate gifts and events.  Just like how Christmas and my birthday are separate.
I love birthdays too much to let them share the lime light with another holiday.

I'm not a huge chocolate lover (give me a pound of gobstoppers or sour patch kids any day) so that is always out for Valentine's Day.
So instead of the obvious choices (although I am never opposed to flowers), I put together a few non traditional things I wouldn't mind seeing wrapped in some cute hearts and pink paper this year.
(P.s. Target has adorable Valentine's paper and chevron tissue paper in the dollar section.)

I also included a few guy gifts for your man.
Most of Mister's Valentines (and birthday for that matter) gifts have been purchased and wrapped but there a few things that haven't been.
Are those items on this list?! Who knows...
He will just have to wait to find out!
Valentines
 FOR HER
1.  Curling Wand: Shanna has convinced me that I need this for luscious, beautiful waves.
2.  Running Leggings: We are still going strong with p90x but once it gets warmer I want to get back to running more.  Plus I really should start working towards that 10k I told myself I'd run...
These pants would probably really help me do that ;)
Or any new work out gear for that matter!
3. Mrs. Necklace: In love with this thing.
4.MELT candle: I recently picked on these up from Target and I am so obsessed with it.  The smell is amazing, I love the colorful glass jar and it is lasting forever.  I wouldn't mind owning about 7 more.
FOR HIM
5. Anything Reeses: This is a sure way right into Misters heart.
6. Ticket Stub Pillow: Blow up a ticket stub, print it on fabric transfer and make into a pillow!
7. You and Me and the Dog Print: I mean, this is just our life to a T and would be cute in Mister's office.
8.  Cute shirt: Mister doesn't need any help being cute but this shirt would definitely add to his cuteness :)  Target has had some really great guys stuff lately!

I know some people think celebrating Valentine's Day is silly but we personally LOVE it (yes pun intended).  I think it's a fun little way to show all the loved ones in your life a some extra love.  Plus it breaks up the monotony of the week when you throw such a cute holiday in on a Thursday!

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day?
What is on your list this year?

SPD: Valentines Craft Edition

One of the goals on my 2013 list is to create and keep track of monthly blog goals.
One of those goals for each month is to create more holiday projects/decor (from Pinterest) for our house and blog about them (of course).
It always seems like a week before an impeding holiday I try to whip up a craft and do not get to enjoy them for very long.
I am going to try to change that this year.
So in an effort of looking ahead and motivating myself to get some DIYing done, I have picked out a Valentine's Day crafts I want to do.
I really love Valentines Day (pun intended) and can't wait to start decorating for it!

So I'm cheating a little today and calling this 'Saw It Pinned It Going to do It'

X and O felt garland. I'm thinking this could be cute over our frames, similar to the fall one I made.

I think the stud muffin in my life needs one of these in his lunch

(heart shaped) strawberry oreo cookies

Our house is about to get all sorts of love DIY'ed.

Turns out Floyd isn't the only basset out there that helps with personal training.
Check out this awesome basset. Floyd needs to step up his game.
