Blogtember : Bad Case of FOMO

Day 8: Discuss how blogging and social media have changed you

Oh mama. This is a big one for me.
There are definitely pros and cons to this crazy blogging world.
I'd have to say the pros significantly out weigh the cons, but that there are some cons.

I have never been less than ecstatic that blogging and social media has entered my life.
I think the thing that sticks out most in my life are the friendships I've made.
I never thought in a million years when I started this little corner of the world I would meet some of my very best friends and connect with so many women.
It's amazing knowing that if I am to travel across the country, or even world, there is a large chance I can meet up and connect with a blogger- how awesome is that?!
We are nothing less than an amazing community of supporting women!

I also love having a space where I can document our lives and adventures with our friends and family far away.  I love looking back at past posts remembering where we were this time last year and how far we've come. I also really love sharing Floyd with everyone, as silly as that may seem.  I am, clearly, a HUGE animal lover and dogs make me so, so happy.  Floyd makes us laugh on a daily basis and I love that we can share his antics with you guys so often.

Now the cons....
Well, as much as Mister 100% supports this space of mine, he probably has more cons than I do.
I fully acknowledge that blogging takes away from time that I could be spending with him and Floyd.  I take full responsibility of that and I am honestly trying to do better about it.
Blogging and social media has caused me to be glued to my phone more often.
Instagram is updated about 56 times a day on my phone and it seems I am constantly texting (IRL and blog friends) or responding to blog comments.
Well I do love that side of blogging and media and the connections I've made, I know it's not a great habit.
Because of social media, mainly instagram, I have developed a severe case of FOMO (fear of missing out).  Kait wrote a great post about that here.
I have this crazy anxiety that if I don't check Instagram often enough I am going to miss out on something...#terriblehabit. I fully acknowledge that I need to cool it.  Because you know what, the world goes on, even if I don't check instagram every 5 minutes.

But I have to say, overall, I LOVE that blogging and social media are in my life.
I love the connections, the friends, the stories, the Pinterest finds, the fun and the insight to really great online stores ;) I often think, when do I stop blogging or what if I stop blogging one day? And I immediately start panicking because I think I may pass out without blogging in my life.  I love having it around and having it as a creative outlet.  Big or small, I think everyone should have a blog at some point in their life...it is pretty awesome to have a space all your own to get your creative juices flowing.  And you never know, you may meet some of your best friends along the way.

And on that note, be sure to follow along with our weekend adventures on isntagram @totalbassetcase

The Greatest Tweet of My Life

Something happened last night and I am still smiling about...

First things first....Pioneer Woman came out with a new Charlie book on Tuesday.
In no new news, I am a teensy bit obsessed with PW and all things she creates/produces.
As soon as I saw the new book I ordered it from Amazon and yesterday when I came home it was on our porch (thank you Amazon Prime).
I tore it opened and showed it to Floyd.
He was beside himself with excitement.
Can't you tell?
#ecstatic (Floyd's hashtag input)

I then tweeted Floyd's excitement to the world, and most importantly, PW herself.

And then the GREATEST thing in the world happened.
I died.
Like shut the front door, baaa-naaa-nas, Rachel Zoe DIED.
I jumped and screamed and jumped some more around the house and scared Floyd half to death.

I will 100% admit that I'm a huge dork and this literally made my week month.

PW is one of the reasons I started blogging and she is clearly a superstar of a blogger, writer and all around lady.
Plus she has 2 bassets and makes delicious food so you just can't really go wrong with that.
So this just put it over the top for me.
Stick a fork in me I am done.

Now the real question is, how do we get her to invite Floyd and I out to the ranch for a play date with Charlie and Walter?? #thatdoesntmakemesoundcreepyatall

And Floyd did get his bedtime story

And now I shall end this before I start to sound even crazier.

Happy Thursday friends.
I'm hosting a small cocktail party for some ladies at my house tonight and can't wait to show you guys the details!

Floyd's Friends: Nestful of Love

Thank you Friday, sir, for showing up this week.
Come Wednesday at lunch time I was pretty certain you weren't coming at all.

In more exciting news...DIET COKE TWEETED ME YESTERDAY!!
If you know anything about me it is my INTENSE love for Diet Coke.
I try to limit myself to 1 a day (besides Thursday and my 44oz Diet Vanilla Cokes) even though I could easily drink about 87 a day.
But Wednesday afternoon I was running errands for work and decided I needed a fountain DC (because we all know that the fountain version is the best version there is).
And I tweeted (as if the world cared)
and yesterday Diet Coke tweeted back
you. guys. I just died right there on the spot with my iPhone in hand.
And then I texted Mister, Kait and Bethany to tell them that Diet Coke had tweeted me and that my life was now complete.
Because that was completely necessary information that they needed to know on their Thursday afternoon.
You're welcome, guys.
And that, my friends, is just about is exciting as my life as been lately.

Today's Floyd's Friends is a Cincinnati favorite of ours!
We are so happy to welcome Allison, Bear and Sawyer to the blog today!
I have had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Allison last summer and she is just as sweet in person as she is on her blog!
Not to mention her love for PW recipes and cooking (girl after my own heart), her adorable Etsy shop (Simply Burlap) and all around cute blog
Take it away, Allison!

*Disclaimer to all you dog lovers out there. I personally am a huge lover of both dogs and cats, but my cats are taking over this post, therefore I have no control over what comes out of their kitty mouths.*
I'm Sawyer and this is my brother Bear and we are here today to tell you why we make better pets than dogs (except for Floyd, he's pretty awesome.) Cats have a bad rep and we have no idea why. We are cuddly, cute, and we take care of ourselves. What more can you ask of a pet?
We don't ask for much...all we need is food, a few toys and kitty cuddle time. We love kitty cuddle time and don't understand why Mom and Dad press buttons on these little rectangular boxes all evening long. Can't a kitty get a cuddle in around here? After we interrupt a few times they stop pressing buttons and give in to us. We can be a little bit persistent...just a little.
Unlike dogs, we don't have to be let out and actually enjoy a little privacy..we really can take care of ourselves most of the time, but we miss mom and dad while they are gone. When mom was gone at the beach for a wedding, I missed her so much I ran out the door one night looking for her and dad didn't know until the morning. I got in a cat fight and ended up in the E.R. It was terrible and my mom is never allowed to leave me again.
We often get caught hanging out in the bathroom. It's a cool place, what can we say.
We will pretty much sleep anywhere, anytime so there is no need to waste money on a dog bed.
You don't have to walk us, however our mom and dad did try unsuccessfully to put leashes on us one day. Do they think we are stupid? Cats can't be controlled because we know what we like and how we like it. While we may get sassy from time to time, we really do love our mom and dad and each other. If mom and dad ever decide to get a dog we promise to love it too, especially if he is as cool as Floyd.

Thanks for having us Floyd. Now go tell my Mom how cute you thought we were.

Oh Bear and Sawyer, you may be swaying us.
You guys are awfully cute!!
Now go over to Allison's blog, take a look around and say hi!
Check out her Etsy shop too for some adorable banners (great for photo shoots, baby/briday showers, birthday parties, anything!)

Have a fabulous weekend, friends!

Meet Shirley and Hank.  They are the newest members of our household. And I'm obsessed with them.

I have a small obsession with bird images.  Actual birds, not a fan.  Bird images, love!  Shirley and Hank have taken up residence on our floating shelves.  (and those two boys in the corner aren't bad either :) )

And speaking up birds and 'tweeting'....Total Basset Case has joined the Twitter craze.
