When I'm not blogging

To start off being 100% honest, I am totally stealing this blog post idea from Amanda.
That being said, I think it is an excellent idea.
And I sorta want everyone to do a post like this.

There are a million and a half things that I do (or at least feel like) I do every single day.  This blog is one small part of those million things.

Here are a few of the others:

Basset hound wrangling/holding: Floyd is our baby and takes up a lot of our time and I love it.  Homeboy needs walks and loving and holdins.  Currently he is on my lap and I am typing at an angle to accommodate his snuggling.

Working out: I make it a priority to fit in a workout session every day.  Even if it is short and sweet or just my push ups, I am determined to get something accomplished.  Running is on the back burner right now due to my IT band.  Prayers for fast healing...

Reading:  One of my resolutions was to read more and so far I've read two books and listened to one!

Cooking:  Turns out Mister needs dinner every night and its a good thing because I love cooking.  We love cooking together at night after working out and spending time in the kitchen.

TV Time:  Mister and I love a good TV series and have quite a few that we watch.  We try to get in at least one or two episodes in a night of whatever particular ones we are involved in.  Lately it's been The Americans- we are almost finished with the first season and really enjoying it!
Pinteresting:  I love a good cruise around Pinterest (follow me here!) and some evenings it is my way to wind down.  Like most of us ladies, I can easily get lost in the maze of Pinterest, clicking on links and finding new sites/blogs.  I have been finding the best recipes for my meal plans lately and in turn, finding fantastic food blogs!

Blogwork:  Speaking of blogs, another cruise I like taking around the ol Internets is finding new blogs to read and fall in love with.  Any new ones out there I should be reading?!

So what are you doing when you're not blogging?

2014 in review

It is that time of the year when we talk about the year!
We had a great 2014 and are really looking forward to a even better 2015!

We were able to see LOTS of friends, travel, accomplish a lot of house projects and fit in some fun as well.  Not to mention running over 500+ miles (hoping to get a few more in tomorrow before the end of year) and completing two half marathons!

We crossed off 12 of 17 items on our list! We are already thinking of what is going on our 2015 list.  I know I've mentioned it before but I LOVE doing our yearly list and working towards it all year.
Some of the highlights from this year include:

We eventually did my vanity as well we were so pleased with the product!

Other items crossed off, new appliances (that we love!), new carpet, travel, 500 miles, start Christmas prep earlier.
Christmas prep may have been one of my favorites.  I made it a point to start buying (and staggering buying) gifts WAY earlier this year and it made a huge difference.

How did your year wrap up?  What should we put on our list??

Happy New Year, friends!!

Friday's with Floyd : Pumpkin Patch

Wednesday I had the absolute pleasure of having dinner and cupcakes with a fabulous group of Cincy bloggers.  I love that there are so many of us in one city, such a great group of ladies!!

And now on to Floyd's pumpkin patch adventures.
As I said, homeboy was in total heaven.
Smells, outdoors and semi freedom to roam all over a farm...happy Floyd!
For those of you that know Floyd personally, you know that these photos really capture his personality.  Mister and I have been dying looking back at these.  They are SO him.  I swear he has more facial expressions and personality quirks than I do.

Happy Friday!

Blogtember : Bad Case of FOMO

Day 8: Discuss how blogging and social media have changed you

Oh mama. This is a big one for me.
There are definitely pros and cons to this crazy blogging world.
I'd have to say the pros significantly out weigh the cons, but that there are some cons.

I have never been less than ecstatic that blogging and social media has entered my life.
I think the thing that sticks out most in my life are the friendships I've made.
I never thought in a million years when I started this little corner of the world I would meet some of my very best friends and connect with so many women.
It's amazing knowing that if I am to travel across the country, or even world, there is a large chance I can meet up and connect with a blogger- how awesome is that?!
We are nothing less than an amazing community of supporting women!

I also love having a space where I can document our lives and adventures with our friends and family far away.  I love looking back at past posts remembering where we were this time last year and how far we've come. I also really love sharing Floyd with everyone, as silly as that may seem.  I am, clearly, a HUGE animal lover and dogs make me so, so happy.  Floyd makes us laugh on a daily basis and I love that we can share his antics with you guys so often.

Now the cons....
Well, as much as Mister 100% supports this space of mine, he probably has more cons than I do.
I fully acknowledge that blogging takes away from time that I could be spending with him and Floyd.  I take full responsibility of that and I am honestly trying to do better about it.
Blogging and social media has caused me to be glued to my phone more often.
Instagram is updated about 56 times a day on my phone and it seems I am constantly texting (IRL and blog friends) or responding to blog comments.
Well I do love that side of blogging and media and the connections I've made, I know it's not a great habit.
Because of social media, mainly instagram, I have developed a severe case of FOMO (fear of missing out).  Kait wrote a great post about that here.
I have this crazy anxiety that if I don't check Instagram often enough I am going to miss out on something...#terriblehabit. I fully acknowledge that I need to cool it.  Because you know what, the world goes on, even if I don't check instagram every 5 minutes.

But I have to say, overall, I LOVE that blogging and social media are in my life.
I love the connections, the friends, the stories, the Pinterest finds, the fun and the insight to really great online stores ;) I often think, when do I stop blogging or what if I stop blogging one day? And I immediately start panicking because I think I may pass out without blogging in my life.  I love having it around and having it as a creative outlet.  Big or small, I think everyone should have a blog at some point in their life...it is pretty awesome to have a space all your own to get your creative juices flowing.  And you never know, you may meet some of your best friends along the way.

And on that note, be sure to follow along with our weekend adventures on isntagram @totalbassetcase
